Being at the wrong place at the right time....

Lucy my housemate for the evening

Trip to Namdaemun Market area and an outer edge of Seoul today. On our way back to the bus area we came across a Changing of the Royal Guard ceremony. I couldn't help but be reminded of my times in Arlington and how things are different yet the same when it comes to ceremony. It seems the more I see, especially of traditional Korean culture, the more I want to see. I haven't even been down to the Fortress in Suwon yet. Just living here is an adventure for sure. It is hard to see street vendors hawking anchovies and such on the sidewalks right next to the latest Hello Kitty purses and bags. I managed to pick up a couple of things for the apartment but that was all. Too much to see and not in the shopping spirit I suppose. At least I know where it is and if I want to go back I can.
The real joy of the day for me was just being with all of the different staff members and visiting outside of the school area. I also liked to watch the little ones playing in the water. It was quite warm and they were finding such joy in the random pop ups from the fountain in Seoul plaza.
Truly not bad for a Saturday all in all. I am starting to learn that I will be busy all of the time but at least I can take something away from each new experience. Tonight's adventure...can four newbies order a pizza for dinner and have it delivered...stay tuned.
