Tired eyes
Several pairs of tired eyes around school today. Many from the faces of the teachers. For us it is the middle of the week. The end of Wednesday. Small solace was taken in the fact that it wasn't just those of us new to the school that were having trouble. Tonight was our first Korean language class. It was good but hard to focus on all of it after the school day. We will have classes on every Wednesday and every other Saturday for at least a month. I agree it is good to do this at the beginning of the year and not string it out but it is still going to be some time before I can recognize and speak simple phrases. I did notice some sign of progress when at the market this evening. I was able to match up the characters on the sign to what I was trying to buy so I knew kind of what it was. Small victory but I will take it to be sure. It is my hope that I will be recharged a bit tomorrow and will have wonderful and witty antic for you to read about. But alas this evening I am all tuckered out. Remember to check out your surroundings see it through foreign eyes. We have an elementary student now who speaks fluent Mandarin and good Korean but no one in the family speaks any English. And we are an English speaking school.....and I thought I had a tough time of it.
