Free day?

Well today was our very first day in Korea without having planned activities. Several of us were in the school and I can't say for sure how many of us made it for great amounts of time. Pretty soon your brain just hits an overload stage where you have to walk away and come back later with fresh eyes.
Three of us went out to the local Homeplus to try and find a few odds and ends for around the apartment. Will I ever get the system figured out? Who is to say. We had a nice little journey up and down the escalator ramps and saw a few pretty cool parking lot areas before coming back to the shopping sight. Good rule to remember is that where the air conditioning stops so does the shopping. We found a few things we were looking for which was good I figure. All of the cashiers are really nice but I have no clue what they are saying. I am going to write down some short cut words I want to know and get them translated I think. It just adds to the fatigue when you cannot communicate really. It is interesting in the food section of the market though. It is like a Walmart sort of place. But in the food area it sounds like they are have auctions or sales of the century! They have little microphones and they start going off on how good their stuff is. Can you imagine that at the local Albertson's?  We did find a little restaurant that made me feel at home.  How can you argue with that. It was too hot and muggy to carry much food stuffs home today so I will have to try and get a few things from the market on the corner. I am pretty nervous about school Monday but it is coming whether I am ready or not.
I forgot to mention one of the things that happened on our outing last night. While walking to the american import shop, there were several children playing soccer in the apartment landing area. The ball came towards me and I kicked it back and the kids all raised up in an "ohhhh". Then I defended against one for a second and watched the smile grow on his face. The kids were probably 8 or 9 years old. On our way out of the shop almost the same thing happened but I just kicked it back to him. Then watched him boot it really hard and accidentally nail his friend unsuspectingly right where it counts. You know some things are truly are universal. Laughter, play, and kids enjoying life for just a moment. And sometimes life can kick you where it counts. The question becomes, will you get back up and keep playing.
