Greetings all!
This is my first blog so we will see how it all goes I guess. Those of you reading must be a little more die hard for the news around here.
Today was yet another day full of meetings. I am pretty much on meeting overload. We had the joyous adventure to go to the immigration office today to get our fingerprinting done for our Visa's and all. A little over an hour to wait which isn't long I guess. At least it is done and I didn't have to figure it out on my own.
A large group of us newbies went in search of dinner afterwards. There is quite a row of shops and restaurants not far from the apartments so we chose Korean BBQ. Try to imagine a small Korean sit down place with kind of western benches and wood tables. "BBQ" Right? Well we were the only ones in there who spoke a word of English but through pointing at things and little use of our Korean phrasebook, we managed some decent food. SPICY by Idaho standards. (And apparently by some New Zealand standards). But very good. The owner/manager was a wonderful help. He would sit at the table and try to figure out what we remotely wanted. Lots of new things to try and I hope they won't haunt me tomorrow. One of my favorite parts was when John Denver's Country Roads came over the radio. I heard him start humming it so I started to sing the words and he and a few at the table joined in for a bit. He knew that English for sure!
Some good laughs and a chance to get to know people a bit better before the rush of school really hits.
Ha! That's awesome! New adventures every day! How does it feel to be a daily explorer?
ReplyDeletePretty good so far.
